November 12, 2025 - Phoenix with High School Buddies

I flew out to Phoenix to get together with a bunch of my old high school buddies.  Pete lives here full time in the Pebble Creek 55 and older community west of Phoenix.

You know you're not in Maryland anymore when you're wearing a T-shirt and shorts in November, plus there is a massive Saguaro cactus behind you.

We spent a lot of time playing ping pong at Pete's house.

Pete just made a nice kill shot; he's such a gracious winner.

Dale about to return a blistering shot.  Nelson and Stan are ready for anything.

As you might imagine, pickleball is big here at Pebble Creek.  They have excellent courts and a lot of them.  We played a lot of pickleball.  I have been playing twice a week back in Maryland so my game has improved a lot since the last time I played here.  So I played much better than I had previous on my previous Pebble Creek visits, except for one morning I had two, strong, Bloody Marys, beforehand.  My game suffered badly that morning.

Looking at only half the pickleball courts.

Playing Corn Hole in Pete's back yard.

Looking the other direction.

We also played a lot of Bocce Ball.

The Bocce Ball courts at Pebble Creek.  Nice.

Stan and Jeff playing Bocce Ball.

Back at Pete's house, Nelson prepares a pitcher of his highly-regarded Margaritas.

Stan, Jeff and Jack give Nelson advice on making margaritas.  Nelson pretends he's listening.

The margaritas were transported to the Oasis pool.

There are few things Stan likes better than floating in the Oasis pool while drinking a frozen margarita.

Let's all have margaritas!

Life is good.

Yay, Oasis pool.

Jeff playing the air guitar.

Nelson makes another batch of margaritas while Dale, Chuck, Jeff and Pete look on.

The party has moved outside to the patio.  Temperature is perfect; misters are not required.

Pete's neighbor stops by to show off his new ride:  a maroon Corvette.  Nice!

Not to be outdone, Chuck shows off his powerful Mustang.

Cutest (and only) couple of the get-together:  Pete and Sheryl.  Sheryl wisely stayed away most of the time.
